Visual Merchandising Step-1

What caught the eye!

When it comes to running a pop-up shop or pop-up store, the management of visual merchandising is of utmost importance. That big term basically means the way your shop “looks”. Since it is a pop-up shop, it has to keep catching eyes of the customers at every location. The glamour game must be strong!

The elements that seem small yet contribute big to this factor include the external things (like your window, banners or other decors) as well as the internal directives (that guide the customer inside the shop). The journey of your customer from passing by your shop to making a purchase must be constantly engaging him but subtle enough to not be too pushy. That’s where the Visual Merchandising works better than a salesman chasing the person around. The customer must feel free to roam around while what he sees captures his attention!

The prerequisites required to build your dream-shop are as below-

  • Clarity of the long-term goals of your pop-up shop
  • A suitable location (might need a good amount go search)
  • The best time and day of the launch
  • Last but the most important, a new spirit and zeal that defines your shop!

Visual Merchandising is an art that not everybody can master. Although there are some tips and tricks that work for you. The more detailed ones will be explained in the articles coming up. In this introductory blog, let’s assemble the basic Visual Merchandising Set for you.

You will find the things easily at your home. Pull your old craft box off the shelf or make a new one from the scratch. Get ready with a measuring tape, a stapler, glue, a pair of scissors, some double-sided tape. Some advanced tools like a hammer, some nails, screws, screwdrivers and a utility knife would serve the purpose enough.

To make your shop stand out in the crowd you might want some special props like a statue or a decorative shelf. You may use inflatable floaters (if you have swimsuits) or plastic Christmas trees (for winter wear). What you show will make your customer decide if he wants to enter your shop. Start filling your inventory. Keep the Glamour Game strong.

Get set. Go!
